Free Credit Reports
Federal law allows you to get a free copy of your credit report once a year from each credit reporting company, Experian, TransUnion and Equafax. Since the report from each of the reporting agencies can be a little different you’ll want to check all three. You could request all three reports now. But, you might want to consider running one now, one in the late spring and one in the fall. That will allow you to check your credit three times through out the year. You requesting your own credit report through this process does not negatively impact your credit score.
There are a lot of websites that offer free credit reports, but if they start out asking for a credit card… that’s not a very good sign! Instead go to AnnualCreditReport.com. This is the official site explicitly directed by Federal law to provide them.
Once you get your report and you have questions, give us a call and we would be happy to help you better understand your credit report.
